Over at Read-Aloud Revival they hosted two of my favorite people in conversation. Honestly if you could just give Jeanne Birdsall and N.D. Wilson their own talk show, I would be first in line to be in the studio audience. Here’s how they described this talk at Anderson’s Bookshops:

Jeanne and N.D. are good friends, and in this interview held at Anderson Bookshop in Illinois, they talk about:

  • why their books are more alike than you might think
  • the author who inspires both of their books
  • what they really hope to do for kids with the stories they tell

Apparently my old friend Pooh recently got in trouble with an entirely new government. He was already a point of conflict between the British and Americans in the 90s, and now he’s been banned by the Chinese? If true, the reason why is somewhat adorable. One does wonder if the Shephard images would fall under the same scrutiny or not.

You’ve all already seen this but in case you can’t I just LOVE so much about this film. I don’t care if it goes places the original never did. It just. Looks. Cool. No word yet on whether or not Oprah turns into a male, topless, winged centaur person, though.

So, first off, I want to say that I am in that minority that liked Wonderstruck more than Hugo Cabret. I liked Hugo fine, but Wonderstruck as a book worked better for me. Second, this is friggin’ directed by Todd Haynes. The music choice is killer and I’m getting just a teensy bit freaked out over how accurate the historical fiction set in my youth is getting in pop culture these days. I just watched this trailer and then the trailer for Derf Backderf’s My Friend Dahmer and . . . . well, it’s unnerving.  But this is a truly great trailer:

And finally, for our off-topic video, my sister mentioned this video in a recent podcast but I hadn’t seen this particular one before. I’m already looking at koalas in an entirely different light, I promise you.
